Government Services ACEP Welcomes new Executive Director

Government Services ACEP welcomes Michele Byers, CAE, CMP, DES as our new Executive Director, effective September 1. Michele is a career association executive who brings 20+ years of association management experience to GSACEP. Michele began serving as the GSACEP Executive Director in April 2023 through our management agreement with ACEP and now, upon conclusion of our agreement with ACEP, will be contracting directly with GSACEP.

"The Executive Director serves a vital role on the leadership team for GSACEP, adding stability to the chapter and ensuring the day-to-day operations are conducted smoothly and in a timely fashion. With the uniqueness of our chapter, the Executive Director is there to ensure the work of the chapter moves forward as its members are deployed around the globe." shared GSACEP President, Roderick Fontenette, MD, FACEP.  "Michele is a dynamic leader and will bring tremendous experience and energy to GSACEP.  I look forward to working with her to grow our value proposition and enhance our member services for our mighty Government Services members."

Michele is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), and Digital Event Strategist (DES). She resides in Arlington, TX with her husband Darrell, and has two "grown and flown" children, Sam and Katherine. She previously served as the Senior Vice President, Education and Association Management Services at ACEP and has served as Executive Director for the Emergency Medicine Residents' Association (EMRA) and the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD). Michele enjoys being a mentor to young professionals, serving as an advocate for members, and leading strategic growth for the organizations she represents. She also enjoys reading the latest thriller, road trips to national parks, live music, and the occasional spa day.
